I have a very vivid recollection of the moment I realized that this industry was breaking people.
It was 2015 and I was living in NYC. I was the Director of the Talent Board there managing talent like Chiara Ferragni, Danielle Bernstein, an¢d Sincerely Jules to name a few… as well as celebs like Dua Lipa and Pamela Anderson.
But nevermind the namedropping.
I was genuinely concerned about the state of the creator economy… and this was TEN YEARS AGO… imagine now.
I realized that this industry was not only breaking people creatively but also emotionally, mentally, financially. I’ve watched incredibly talented creators burn out trying to keep up with trends they themselves didn’t believe in. I’ve seen smart, visionary entrepreneurs second-guess themselves because the algorithm didn’t "like" them that day. I’ve had people come to me in sobbing tears because they were doing everything right and still not getting anywhere.
And I’ve been there, too.
After over 21 years in the fashion and entertainment industry, working with some of the biggest names on the planet, advising major brands, and pioneering what it means to be a content creator, I’ve seen every corner of this business. I’ve seen what works. I’ve seen what burns people out. And I’ve seen just how alone creators can feel in all of it.
That’s why I created Idalia INC and subsequently Realization (this SubStack). I wanted a safe, strategic, and soulful home for creators. And for just 2 cents a day you get to dive in deeper in my strategy.
